Lahore Qalandars have named Shaheen Afridi as their vice-captain for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL6) 2021.
The 20-year-old fast bowler will leave Sohail Akhtar, who is the captain of the franchise.

Samin Rana, COO of Lahore Qalandars, said the appointment of Afridi as vice-captain was part of Lahore’s strategy to turn the youth into strong leaders.
“We have always believed in empowering the youth,” Rana said. If you look at our squad of PSL6 LQ, the majority of Qalandars are youngsters who have achieved this position through our own player development program.
“We are confident that Shaheen (Afridi) has always been a very important member of our squad and now is the time to start building him as a leader.”

Qalandars cricket director Aqib Javed said tha Afridi is the face of the franchise, adding that his commitment to the Qalandars mentality is remarkable.

Shaheen took 34 wickets in 27 matches. He was the Qalandars’ most important wicket taker in PSL 2020.
This is the second change in leadership of PSL6 franchises in as many days. On Monday, Multan Sultans had declared Muhammad Rizwan as their new captain and now Shaheen Afridi declared as a vice-captain of Lahore Qalandars.
