After Islamabad United player Fawad Ahmed’s positive test for Covid-19 led to the rescheduling of Monday night’s fixture, details of standard operating procedure (SOP) breaches in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 have emerged.

According to insiders quoted by The News, the players were dedicated two lifts at their hotel but they ended up also using stairs, which were not part of the bio-secure bubble created by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Sources further said that a couple of franchises key officials had already informed PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan that such breaches were taking place and that SOPs should be strictly implemented.

Sources also said that every franchise had been assigned a physiotherapist with the purpose of regularly checking the temperatures of players. However, the practice was reportedly never enforced.
