Cudgen will feature in the top two grades of cricket finals this weekend as they take on Marist Brothers Lismore in the LJ Hooker one-day league and Bangalow in the Coastal League.

Cudgen finished well on top of the first grade ladder and had no real trouble getting on top of Tintenbar-East Ballina (TEB) in the semifinal at Reg Dalton Oval last weekend.

Cudgen batted first and put on 4/309 including centuries to C Ziebell (115) and A Williams (121) who put on a second wicket stand of 212. In reply TEB were all out for 186.

Marist Brothers went through after their game against Lennox Head was abandoned after Lismore Council closed the local fields owing to the week’s wet weather.

The first grade final is scheduled for Reg Dalton Field at 1pm this Saturday.

In second grade Cudgen beat Pottsville in their semifinal after scoring 6/225 including 53 to N Chapman. In reply Pottsville scored 130 and lost by 95 runs.

Bangalow also won their second grade semifinal after keeping Terranora to 135 runs. Best of the bowlers were M Irwin (3/19), N Dornan (3/41) and D Pennefather ( 2/19).

Bangalow reached the target with two wickets to spare.
